Here's how they work, step-by-step:
Step 2 - Wego.com will gather the hotel rates from many major travel sites from around the globe. Then, once you are shown the various prices for a particular hotel, you simply click on it and it will bring you to the actual booking page on the website where it was found (sites such as: Booking.com, Otel.com, Hotelopia, Hoteltravel.com .. and plenty of others).
Step 3 - Wego.com will compare the hotel prices from all of these travel sites, displaying each price side-by-side for direct comparison. You can view them all on one page. Effective and convenient!
Folks, this is how you will spot price discrepancies, identify who offers the lowest, and pursue a potential BRG lead!
"Rates" versus "Tax-Inclusive" Total Cost
What Wego.com does is gather the prices from dozens of booking sites and displays a "tax-inclusive" total cost. Once you click through to a booking site (let's say Expedia), you will be shown a lower figure: the rate. Click the "Book Now" button and you will see that higher figure: the total cost - this is what Wego was showing you in the search results! (this would be for the cheapest-priced room for that particular hotel).
This method in which Wego.com dispays its prices comes in very handy for those who search for IHG BRG opportunities. This is because IHG compares the tax-inclusive cost between their site and the competing site, and does not look at pre-tax rates whatsoever. For the IHG enthusiast, this search engine is perfect!
Here are some other helpful features of Wego.com:
1. You can filter by the hotel group or brand. This allows you to view ONLY hotel rates from "Choice Hotels", "Intercontinental Hotels", "Best Western", or any other chain/hotel group that your BRG search focuses on. You can exclude all the others if you'd like. You simply check-mark whichever box you're interested in. They even have a box that says "instant confirmation only" and one where you can enter the "Hotel Name". You'll find what you're looking for fast - without the need to scroll from page to page of hotel listings.
2. On the top of the page (right-hand side) of Wego.com, you can select the currency/country of your choice before you search and compare hotel rates. The Wego.com search boxes found on the BRG Blog have been set to U.S.A. - this setting will direct you to Expedia.com (versus Expedia.sg, Expedia.au, etc.). Using this feature on Wego, you have the freedom to change the setting any way you'd like.
Go ahead and give it a try! ..
Search and Compare Hotel Rates from Dozens of Hotel Booking Sites!
Another very helpful search site we feature is BookingBuddy.com.
If you prefer to compare "rates" and not necessarily the "total cost", then this site is certainly worth a try! Here's how it works:
With BookingBuddy, once your search criteria is entered, they allow you to select which travel sites/search engines you'd like to compare from (Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, Kayak, trivago, room77 and many others). For each site you select, a new window will open. They pretty much do all the hard work for you, all you do is compare. You needn't be a pro. It's easy to skim cities to look for these rate discrepancies, especially if you have a keen eye for saving money!
Click the banner and compare!
So what's the bottom line?
Finding BRG leads is all about comparison!
With these websites at your fingertips, we've pretty much got you covered! There is no better (or quicker) way than this to spot a potential BRG opportunity! Even if you aren't able to find one, these search sites will tell you what the cheapest hotel in town is. They will search literally dozens of different websites, often very obscure ones, and provide you with some killer rates. When you're not looking for BRG deals, visit them to find the best airline price!
I encourage everyone to check out these sites today! They are essential for what we do here, and are truly a great resource for the hardcore traveler!
One final thing I must stress ..
Always be sure to click the displayed rate, then the "Book Now" button. Doing so will verify that the rate has not changed from what you were originally shown. A bit more about this is discussed in our post entitled: Top 10 mistake newbies make when filing Choice BRG claims - mistake #3.
Good luck! .. and if you find a BRG deal, e-mail us with the details and we'll gladly check it out. Once verified, we'll even post it on the blog - with credit going to YOU!
