April Fools! - We really are two individual people, and here's a bit about us, as we say goodbye ...

April Fools, everyone! Of course we don't have multiple personality disorder, and we actually are two individual people!

Not the best joke, but hey, we're not comedians, we're BRG-ers! It's been long overdue, so here's a bit about us before we say goodbye:

Dave, age 26, is the guy who started this blog 15 months ago. He actually goes by David in real life, but decided to use "Dave" to differentiate from the other David. Dave is originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and was raised in Calgary for most of his youth. After obtaining his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology at universities in Minnesota and Kansas, Dave returned to Canada, finding himself back in his stomping grounds, within sight of the Rocky Mountains, working as a freelance travel writer when he was not teaching ESL overseas. His next goal is to write a book about his travels around the world.

Dave has had the opportunity to visit over 60 countries since he began his travels back in 2004, mostly free of charge (by learning how to do so through sites like Flyertalk and Frugal Travel Guy). In 2007, Dave stumbled upon Wyndham's Best Rate Guarantee, and wondered why there wasn't a site out there where people could help one another find these price discrepancies. Frustrated, he took matters into his own hands and created the blog you've known and loved for the past 15 months. It was truly an honor for Dave to serve you all during his term managing this website.

David, age 39, first became aware of the blog after simply doing a Google search on the Best Rate Guarantee. After making a handful of BRG contributions, David was asked to join the blog as a part-time contributor back in April 2008. He grew up in Southern California, in the suburbs of Los Angeles, where he still lives. David went to college in Orange County where he studied in Human Services. After receiving his Bachelor's degree, he ended up pursuing his hobby instead - his love for working on cars, and has worked in auto shops and dealerships for much of his life. He also has worked nights for a well-known delivery service to supplement his income. After moving out to the Houston area for awhile back in 2003, he hated the summer heat and humidity and moved back to California.

David (unlike Dave) is not an experienced traveler! David has never been overseas, nor has he been anywhere in the eastern half of the U.S. His favorite vacation destination is Las Vegas, or anywhere he can try his luck at the casinos!

Dave wishes he could've known David a few years earlier so he might have learned about the Wyndham Guarantee much sooner. David has known about the BRG program since 2005 when he received his first free night at the Days Inn in lovely Adelanto, California (a town you'd never need to stay in!) Oddly enough, his last BRG will be in Barstow, California (another fun town!) as he returns to Vegas.

So there you have it ... two very different personalities!

We hope you've enjoyed reading this post!

Dave & David

A Big THANK YOU from the BRG Blog!

Hello Everyone!

Well the moment has arrived - it's finally time to call it quits here at the BRG Blog! Did you all file your claims before the deadline? We certainly hope so! Now all we need to do is sit back, wait, and keep our fingers crossed that we hear back within the next couple of days from the BRG staff. Be patient ... it may actually take a few days. Were they swamped with claims yesterday? ... that would probably be an understatement!

Dave & I wanted to take this "day after" to send out a big THANK YOU to all of our readers, many of whom were regular BRG contributors to our blog. We've thoroughly enjoyed the interaction we've had with all of you and appreciate the support as well as the contributions!

By supporting our blog (at no cost to you) through our various links such as Kayak, HotelsCombined, Expedia, etc., you made it possible for the BRG Blog to keep going strong for nearly the past year and a half, with well over 1,000 free room opportunities!

The income generated from these searches totally made it possible for both Dave and I to receive the much-needed treatment for our unfortunate "multiple personality disorder" - a diagnosis made by our doctors ... oh, I'd say just about a year ago now. Just the Kayak income alone has nearly paid for the majority of our meds! So again, "We" thank you!

Good luck to all of you on your claims and future travel endeavors!

Oh, and by the way, you all know what day this is, right?
