A CSR from Expedia Shares! (and now my vacation!)

After another excruciatingly long wait on the phone with several Expedia customer service reps, I finally get my second coupon for the month of August! This is thanks to one particular customer service agent ... one who also shares with me just how he's trained to handle a claim! We'll get to that in a moment.

But first, I love the Expedia Guarantee! By no means is it anything like our former Wyndham BRG (that BRG was the bomb!). Free night stays at their hotels were hard to beat! Nonetheless, I'm very satisfied for what Expedia generously offers. I try to follow the rules they set and generally have no major problems. Actually, my biggest hesitation when it comes to deciding whether or not to make a claim isn't the long wait times on hold, nor is it knowing that I will be likely get disconnected once or twice. No, I'll take as long as the call(s) take and make good use of my speakerphone! My real gripe is when I'm told: "You'll see the coupon deposited into your account within 7-10 business days". I really hate that! But it happened to me today.

My claim story does have a happy ending. This is the part where the helpful Expedia guy comes into play. I called Expedia back, unsatisfied being told 7-10 days, and the guy actually told me I did the right thing to call back. (What?!) To my astonishment, the agent actually shared with me (voluntarily) that:

Two things
should be handled during the initial call. If, of course, you're approved for the claim.

#1 - An e-mail with your refund information should be delivered to your e-mail address prior to hanging up with the agent who you're speaking with (and it should be taken care of by that individual).

#2 - The $50 coupon should be deposited into your Expedia account at the same time as the refund e-mail is sent to your e-mail address. This too (I was told) should be handled by the agent prior to the end of the call.

And this he did.

The first agent who approved me (the 7-10 days guy) didn't tell me any of this. I was simply told to wait. But thanks goes out to my "call-back" CSR who explained this all to me from his perspective! I was pleasantly surprised at how he voluntarily shared with me the proper procedure regarding claims. In fact, he appeared to be relaying this information to me from a "How to Deal with a BPG claim" instruction page! (perhaps he was a newbie) Regardless, it was refreshing to feel as though he was on my side and not working against me! And that's my latest story.

So now that I have a few BRG coupons under my belt, I can take off for a few days of travel! I'll be leaving my computer behind, but expect more BRG opportunities to post here towards the end of the week. I'm leaving for my annual 3-night mountain getaway starting today (Monday). Living in California, I'm so blessed to be so close to a variety of scenery away from the city! The high-country is always my first pick.

Hope all of you enjoy the remaining weeks of summer and get yourselves outside and enjoy the sites & warm weather! Happy travels!
