I've been receiving a few interesting e-mails from readers these past few days. Word has been filtering in to the BRG Blog that Choice is possibly relaxing their enforcement of cancel policy-matching. Wanting to find out for myself if this is indeed the case and not just rumor, I booked myself a Choice hotel yesterday after finding a lower rate for the same property on Reservetravel.com. Cancel policies between the two sites were way out-of-whack ... as I expected. This morning, to my surprise, I received my much-anticipated approval letter (causing me to nearly fall out my chair!).
So I'm cautiously optimistic, but happy at the same time, that things may be looking up for the Choice BRG! Were these approvals just a couple of errant slip-ups on the part of a few agents? I suppose it's possible, but I rather doubt it. You can find out for yourself and let us know! All of this being said, the future "random" Choice BRG opportunities we post on the blog may be of the YMMV (your mileage may vary) variety. But then again, most BRG deals usually are!
I have another BRG claim pending, again using Reservetravel.com. I'll post the outcome here as soon as it comes in. I look forward to hearing your results with "non-matching" deals as well .. Good luck!

I'm still waiting to hear back on the claim I submitted this morning. I used to hear back within 4-5 hours after filing, but lately it's been the next day before I get any response. Waiting really sucks - hope the rates don't change in the meantime!
Update: claim #2 (with non-matching cancel policies) is an approval! Good news!

Just booked Manhattan. How long is it taking to get a confirmation on the BRG?
You will likely hear back by the end of the day. However, my claim from a few days ago was filed in the morning and they responded at 9 am the following morning.
i just had one denied for non-matching cancellation policies. :(
